Early life

Austin Carter Mahone[4] was born in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Michele Lee (née Demyanovich) and Charles Edgar Mahone.[5][6] His father died when he was a year and a half old, and he was raised by his single mother.[7] Mahone is of English, French, German, and Slovak descent.[8] He attended Lady Bird Johnson High School in San Antonio but left after his freshman year and was homeschooled at his grandmother's house.[9]

2010–2014: Extended Play and The Secret

Mahone began his career by posting videos on YouTube in June 2010.[10] More music videos followed, and by January 2011 he began to build an online following.[11] In October 2011, Mahone posted a video covering Justin Bieber's "Mistletoe".[12][13] On February 14, 2012, Mahone independently released his first single, "11:11", to iTunes.[14] On June 5, 2012, he released his second single worldwide, "Say Somethin". On August 28, 2012, Mahone announced that he had been officially signed to Chase/Universal Republic Records.[15] In November 2012, Mahone signed a deal to become the new "Teen Ambassador" for Lil Wayne's Trukfit fashion clothing line.[16] He has filmed commercials for McDonald's[17] and Hot Nuts, a Mexican snack.[18] On December 3, 2012, Mahone released a song titled "Say You're Just a Friend" featuring rapper Flo Rida as a digital download.[19] He later dropped the piano version of the song and revealed why he released the piano rendition of the song, explaining "I knew my fans love the original version, but I saw a lot of comments saying that they couldn't really hear my voice, so I wanted to reassure them that I can sing the song. I thought it'd be cool to not only have the original version but also the piano version and change it up."[20] On May 29, 2013, he released his debut EP, Extended Play, in Japan only.[21]

In June 2013, Mahone released a song called "What About Love".[22] The music video won MTV's Artists to Watch at MTV Video Music Awards,[23] and he was chosen as one of the opening acts of Taylor Swift's Red Tour.[24] In July 2013, Mahone featured in "Magik 2.0", a song by Becky G for The Smurfs 2 Soundtrack, it was a rendition of B.o.B's Magic.[25] In December 2013, Mahone was named a "Digital and Brand Strategist" for Aquafina's FlavorSplash, a new line of flavored sparkling water targeted towards teens.[26] On October 17, 2013, he kicked off his first ever headlining tour, MTV's Artist to Watch Tour.[27] On November 13, Mahone released a song "Banga Banga" as a promotional single.[28] "Mmm Yeah" was released as the lead single from The Secret, his second EP, on January 27, 2014. 2017–2018: Dirty Work and Oxygen

"Lady" served as the lead single, a remix of the 2001 "Lady (Hear Me Tonight)" by Modjo, featuring Pitbull. The song was released as a preview on December 22, 2016, and released officially on April 19, 2017.[38]

On New Year's Eve, Mahone performed "Lady" on Pitbull's New Year's Revolution. He has since then performed at two Dolce & Gabbana fashion shows in Italy with his new work. He performed two shows while on the Pitbull After Dark Cruise.

Lauderdale, Florida, going through Thursday, June 30, ending in Los Angeles, California.

On Friday, April 12, Mahone released a new song, "Creatures of the Night", with DJ and record producer Hardwell.

Since 2017, Japanese comedian Blouson Chiemi started to use "Dirty Work" as the background music of her popular comedy routine, which led the song to peak number 4 on the Japan Hot 100 Chart,[39] also ending up being certified gold in the country.[40] Later, Mahone announced the release of his first debut studio album exclusively in the country. It also included his collaborations "Lady" with Pitbull and "Creatures of the Night" with Hardwell which reached the number 1 position on Billboard's US Dance Club Songs chart.[41][42]

On May 16, 2018, Mahone released the extended play, Oxygen exclusively in Japan.[47][48]

2019–present: Upcoming album

On February 4, 2019, Mahone signed on to Elektra Records and released the new single, "Why Don't We"[49] which is penned by Charlie Puth[50] and categorized as a fusion of modern pop and old school R&B under the 90s' influences.[51] The music video was released on March 2, 2019 on YouTube.[52] The music video is described as a throwback of Michael Jackson's blueprint with group choreography and some solo scenes chasing a lucky girl.[50] He has also photoed for the Galore Magazine on February 14, 2019 as the cover star to talk about his new music[53]. In March, he was featured in Paper magazine to talk about his new single, "Why Don't We" and the upcoming album.[54]

Beyond Fame

"I don't want to be that guy who is having problems and going to rehab.

I am focused on the music," says Mahone, exuding the kind of sensibility that’s unusual for his age.

Perhaps, the absence of a father figure instilled a sense of responsibility and level-headedness in him at such an early age.

Could be Austin’s obligation to ‘man up’ and not make too many stupid mistakes, unlike most of his peers.

“I felt a lot of pressure on me and was like, okay, I definitely have to go hard now.

I've gotta be the man of the house and make the money and provide for my family,”recounts Mahone, in a voice that’s yet to lose its boyishness.

So, this isn’t the kind of star who makes headlines for his public meltdowns and ugly break-ups.And

as if to underline the point, Mahone insists that he is in very good terms with both his former lady loves – Camila Cabello and Becky G. Of course, there have been rumors suggesting a fall-out, but if there is any truth to it, Becky’s appearance in his 2015 mixtape, “This Is Not The Album”, is a mystery left for the tattlers to solve. It’s

been half a decade since ‘Mahoneism’ first took the world by storm. So,

what’s next for the superstar? With

two EP’s, numerous Singles and Tours to his credit, would there be an album anytime soon? According

to Austin, a full-length album is not far away, and that alone should give ‘Mahomies’ all over the world enough reason to rejoice.[125]
