Overview
Rivas was signed to So So Def Recordings as an in-house engineer. Rivas was born and raised in Queens, New York. At the age of eight, he began interning and hosting the daily television show, Kid's Beat on CNN where he covered current events, sports and entertainment. Rivas went on to become the CNN weekly program engineer. At age 17, he became the intern engineer for So So Def Recordings. In 1998, 9000 moved to Atlanta after he was offered a full time position with the label by founder, Jermaine Dupri. Ramon's first major credit came in 2007 on Queen Latifah'sTrav'lin' Light album. Following Ramon's mainstream break, he connected with Mathew Knowles which led to more high profile collaborations. As of 2016, 9000 was signed to a publishing deal under Universal Music Publishing Group. He is perhaps best known for collaborating with Jay Z, Alicia Keys and Beyonce. [1]
