2016 Palm Springs Bus Crash
On October 23rd, 2016 in Palm Springs, California, a tour bus and a semi-truck crashed on the Interstate 10 Highway.
Injuries
13 people have been killed and over 30 have been injured.
According to the police, Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California received 14 patients: five in critical condition, three in serious condition and six with minor injuries.
Meanwhile, Eleven people with minor injuries were sent to Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, California.
Additionally, JFK Memorial Medical Center in Indio received five patients who also had minor injuries.
Cause of crash
Multiple reports write that the tour bus had smashed into the rear of a big rig, and the front of the bus was enveloped by the big rig's trailer.
Following the crash, firefighters swarmed the scene to reach the victims.
Police have yet to determine the cause of the crash.
The bus was en route to Los Angeles, California from the Red Earth Casino in Salton City, California.
One Witness reports, "The front part of the bus was completely merged into the rear of the semi-truck," she said, adding that it took her more than two hours to drive past the accident and exit the freeway."
