"Kyle & the Pity Party show a lot of musical talent and promise in the six songs that pack Everything’s Bad. While the foursome have a lot of qualities of an emo band, they are accessible to more than just the emo fan base. Mixing genres like blues, folk, and rock into their sound help a lot with this and make them stand out among the numerous other emo revival acts out there." - Under Bright Lights

After the release of his well-loved 2013 acoustic EP "A Joyful Noise," Kyle McDonough sought to elaborate upon his heartfelt acoustic songs, (and add a little more electricity) with the addition of Brett Jones, Garin Sheeley, and Nick Vining as the Pity Party.
Originally conceived as an acoustic outlet for lifelong hardcore vocalist Kyle, he self-released his first solo EP, "Faults," in September 2012, and followed it up with "A Joyful Noise" in September of 2013. After a year of playing everything from graduation parties, to festivals, to a month-long residency at BSP Kingston, with blues, hardcore, and R&B bands, the current four-piece lineup has entered the studio with Roy Thomson in New Paltz, NY.
The first full-band collection of songs, entitled "Everything's Bad," is a mix of high-energy melodies and heart-wrenching lyrics of love lost, found, and the distance (however small or large) between where you are and where you think you should be.
Kyle McDonough and the Pity Party are currently touring the Hudson Valley and greater New England Area. [+]
