Joel Vangheluwe is an artist, musician, and activist who is based in Detroit, Michigan. Although rumors are trying to say he drove a Dodge Challenger into a group of protesters during the Unite the Right rally they are false. Joel and his girlfriend say that he owns an Impala and that they were at a wedding at the time of the event.
Life and Activities
Joel grew up in St. Clair Shores, Mich. and attended Romeo High School. During his Sophomore year, he aspired to attend Michigan State University and become a recruiter. Joel would change his plans when he found an interest in art and music. For his 16th birthday, his father gave him a Gray 2010 Dodge Challenger. Joel graduated high school in 2015. Joel briefly attended College for Creative Studies before dropping out to further his creative endeavors. He currently lives in Detroit where he is pursuing painting as well as experimental music. He is in a relationship with his girlfriend, Brooklyn Marie Marie Handy.
Joel's political stances can be characterized as anarchist-communist. On July 4th, 2015, Joel posted a picture on Facebook decrying nationalism and borders and promoting open borders. In vehement anti-Trumper, Joel wrote a status that said "if only trump was aborted."
Denying of Running Over Protesters
On August 12, 2017, during the Unite the Right rally, clashes between white nationalists and Antifa caused the Governor to declare a state of emergency and cancel the event. In the aftermath, a video was taken of a Gray Dodge Challenger with the licence plate GVF 1111 running over protesters. One person died and several people were injured.
