Blending operatic pop with a twisted fate, Geena Fontanella is well on her way to the crimson throne. Known as the “Queen of Hearts” by many fans, due to her on-stage persona, Geena delivers a hauntingly rocking performance through her usage of theatrical effects and choreography. With influences such as Katy Perry, Beyonce, Hailey Williams, and Zedd, the “Queen” tends to lean towards the bad side, but everyone knows she’s an angel at heart.
With roots in southern California and a strong history of family musicians, it’s no surprise that Geena has musical prowess. She started learning the piano and guitar at a very young age but hated the idea of practicing. After grabbing and focusing on lead roles in her elementary school musicals, Geena had discovered a love for the arts. However, due to her tomboyish nature, she was plagued with the idea that singing was too girly and quit. Upon her arrival in middle school, she had chosen to pick her instrumental skills back up and began interactively engaging in YouTube videos. Although she had gained a slight fear of public performance she auditioned for a choir solo in 9th grade and the teacher and class alike were blown away by her performance. Shortly after, she began to write and perform her songs in SoCal coffee shops.
“I just want to perform my music and for people to hear it.”
Geena Fontanella is a full time student and is on track to getting her bachelor’s degree in vocal performance. With a full arsenal of tricks and treats from both sides of the trade, she’s writing more and more complex songs every day. She just graduated from a music program, The Contemporary Music Center, in Brentwood, TN and has just released her EP, Lose Control. Now with only one year left for her Undergraduate, who knows what she’ll do?
