Doctor of Metaphysics, also abbreviated as DM, DoM or D.o.M., is an ecclesiastical degree awarded in the United States and Europe by Christian seminaries most commonly to meritorious clerics for an outstanding work or another achievement.
Metaphysics is a branch of religious science exploring the very fundamental questions of the existence, including the nature of concepts like being and reality. Traditional metaphysics seeks to answer, in an abstract and fully general manner, the questions
- What is there?
- And what is it like?
Topics of metaphysical research include the issue of existence, objects and their properties, space and time as well as cause and effect. A central branch of metaphysics is ontology, the investigation into the basic categories of being and how they relate to one another.
