Deirdre Forrest is an emerging singer-songwriter with distinct vocal qualities. The clarity, power and soulfulness of her voice have been compared to the likes of: Adele, Alison Krauss, Emmylou Harris and Nora Jones. Deirdre draws inspiration from a vast variety of artists and musical styles. She herself creates melodic, poetic stories that are drenched in descriptive language and raw, personal recollections.
Deirdre received the 2012 Jersey Acoustic Music Award for Best Female Songwriter, and was also nominated for Top Female Vocalist that year. She was nominated for two JAM awards, (Top Female Vocalist and Top New Female Acoustic) in 2013. She was also nominated for Asbury Music Awards for Female Acoustic Act in 2012 & 2013.
Deirdre released her debut album, "Weathered Woes" on May 18th, 2014!
"Shy and soft-spoken by nature, Forrest has a bold voice that captivates and lulls in the same space, exuding glissando, power and tone in ranges unattainable to many and unseen by the rest who search for “the” sound...It should also be noted that Deirdre is a skilled ukulele player, and, as evident here, she peppers the entire disc with her four-string Zen...Deirdre Forrest has one of the most beautiful singing voices in the music scene bar none. Originally toned, melodically pristine and steeped in a proud tradition of Jersey talent on the rise, I’m happy to see Deirdre Forrest with a CD that shows the music world where this talented singer-songwriter comes from, and easily tells us the good places she’s inevitably on her way to."-John Pfeiffer, The Aquarian
"Weathered Woes runs the gamut of acoustic flourishes, from bluegrass to alternative folk to back porch acoustic blues...Weathered Woes is the start of a new beginning for Forrest as a solo artist, and might mark an era of a new “boss” in stilettos ruling the Asbury Park music scene."-Mike Farragher, The Irish Voice
