CatsMelvin, created by lyricist and vocalist Michael Amend, is an ever changing and evolving musical group. As a national act CatsMelvin continues to evolve through regularly touring and inviting sounds and creativity by featuring special guest musicians on a variety of instruments. Michael's vision is to bring the music of C a t s M e l v i n to more markets.
The name CatsMelvin originates from Michael Amend’s creative collaboration with long time friend Kelly Green and Michael's former band, Garth Melvin. “Cats” was added after a comment from a bartender in Dallas that referred to Michael's musicians as “Cats” the night they played at her club, as Michael recalls, "Do you Cats want some absinthe?"

CatsMelvin creator Michael Amend found the visual side of his art in the works of artist Juli Adams. Michael Amend commissioned Adams to create the CatsMelvin
skeleton cat character and CatsMelvin font, both currently in use on CatsMelvin promotional materials. Custom Adams artwork is scheduled for the upcoming album featuring Rock Band Network hit “Wrong Side”. Amend envisions many licensing opportunities with CatsMelvin currently and in the future.
