Blackwater '64 is an original rock/alt-country band from St Louis, MO.
Combining the best elements of American blue collar music, Blackwater '64 plays stripped down twangy Midwestern rock that is heavily blues influenced. Prior to the band's formation, lead singer/writer and guitarist Ben Martsolf performed the band's songs under the name Ben Martsolf and The Six Shooters as an alt-country band. After adding drummer George Fiorini and bassist Aaron Bickle, Blackwater '64 was chosen as a new name. The guys added Aaron Peipert on Bass making the band a four piece, and switched Bickle's duties on instruments. Aaron Bickle now plays lead guitar. Ben Martsolf comes from former bands: It's All About The Benjamins and Death Medicine. Aaron Bickle formerly played in the band One Down. George Fiorini played drums for Mouthbreather and Sonny Morgan. Aaron Peipert previously played in Whisperwall as well as Yorktown Heroes. Each member comes from different musical backgrounds from country to jam band to classic rock to hardcore to early 90's emo and punk. Bands that people have likened them to have been Lucero, The Gaslight Anthem, Hot Water Music, Collective Soul, and The Eagles. Blackwater '64 songs sooth and rock, have lyrics that capture and speak loudly. Check them out and stay tuned for tons more to come from this new and promising group. [+]
