Cofounder Jonathan Miller explained the inspiration for the app: "Social media tends to force us into sharing only those moments that we think will get the most likes, but that leads to a narrative that is disconnected from who we really are." Beet seeks to allow individuals to share candid moments of their lives that exemplifies who they really are through a montage of video clips.
According to cofounder Sean Thielen, his vision for Beet is a medium where people can share their memories in an engaging and meaningful way better than photos and storytelling. According to Sean, "Memories are flashes. They fill you up and twist you around and then they’re gone as quick as they come. Photo albums and recollections over dinner can’t ever match the overwhelming immediacy of memories in your mind."
