Avid is a general partner at the venture capital firm GV, formerly known as Google Ventures. Prior to GV, Avid co-founded Boticca, a global marketplace for independent brands of fashion accessories (acquired by Wolf & Badger in 2015). 
Avid has been involved in the startup ecosystem as a developer, product manager, founder, investor, and advisor since 1998. Avid started investing at Accel Partners in London, UK in 2006, where she focused on software and internet investments. She also held product management roles at Tellme Networks, eBay, and Skype, and began programming in college. While at eBay, Avid was granted a patent for her work on a suite of selling tools. 
Avid currently has three portfolio companies. She invested in Yieldify a marketing technology company. She has also invested in Resolution Games, a virtual reality videogame and Lostmyname.com, a website which sells customized children's books. 
Avid leads Code.org and the Hour of code in the United Kingdom. She is on the board of trustees of Founders4Schools and serves on the Harvard Business School European Advisory Board. Avid has been recognized for her success and charity work as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. 
Avid earned her bachelor's degree and master's degree in engineering at Stanford University, where she was a Mayfield Fellow. She also holds an master of business from Harvard Business School and is a Kauffman Fellow.
