Alex Lightman completed his undergraduate education at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he created his own major in Enterprise Engineering within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Lightman also studied at Lund University in Lund, Sweden. He later attended graduate school at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and the MIT Sloan School of Management.  
Lightman is or was an advisor to over 20 blockchain companies on and Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) and keynotes around the world on “solving big problems with Blockchain, AI and IoT”, “CryptoHistory 2009-2050”, and “Visionary Blockchain Projects”.  
He was the first columnist for ICO Crowd magazine, an Amazon.com best-selling author in seven categories, and keynote speaker at 20+ Blockchain conferences in 2018. He has co-authored white papers including One.Earth, Verity, CobaltCoin, LithiumCoin, GraphiteCoin, Decentric Media, Ultimo Hombre, and Fast Telecom.  
Some of Lightman's clients that have completed successful ICOs include Science, Inc. (famous for incubating Dollar Shave Club and selling for $1 billion cash), BLOCKv, Sense, Scanetchain, Kingsland Academy for Blockchain, Propy, BlocSide Sports, Lottery.com, and Liberty AIM. These companies have raised over $200 million from crypto offerings in aggregate. 
His other blockchain advisory clients include, NYNJA, Good Money, Block Commodities, FR8, ICO Crowd, Decentric Media, BitSpeed (later partnered with Google), Cape Lambert, and Volt Resources.  
Lightman has won four global awards for technology and a national award as one of America’s ten most innovative educators. Of these awards, the most significant is the first ever The Economist Readers’ Award, for “the innovation most likely to radically change the decade 2010 to 2020”, on behalf of 4G wireless, voted on by people in many countries and beating Elon Musk and five other world class innovators in votes.  
He is a co-founder and one of the seven steering committee members of the Digital Asset Trade Association (DATA) and is one of the prolific creator of crypto content in 2018, with 30 crypto articles, eight white papers, and ten videos. Lightman is the author of Brave New Unwired World (Wiley, 2002) and Reconciliation: 78 Reasons to End The US embargo against Cuba. Lightman also coauthored the book, Augmented: Life In The Smart Lane, with Brett King. His next book will be published in Q4 2018, How To Be Good At Crypto, and Food Security via Clean Energy and Blockchain Technology. Lightman has also authored the National Innovation plans for the Obama Whitehouse and for Mexico. Lightman also authored the first two IPv6 transition plans for the 28 NATO member nations. Lightman wrote the ONE.Earth white paper for Brock Pierce. The white paper describes how to gift $1 billion via what Lightman calls an “EnDAOment”, without any management or staff, voted on by token owners using Delegated Proof of Stake, plus five other methods invented by Lightman. He also gave a keynote about EnDAOment at Blockchain Unbound Puerto Rico.   
Alex Lightman lives in Santa Monica, California. He is an avid runner with a mile PR (personal record) of 4:20 and a 2017 PR of a 5 minute mile. He has completed 16 marathons and is passionate about longevity and life extension.
