Adam Grandmaison (better known as Adam22, born on November 24, 1983) is an American entrepreneur, podcast host, entertainer, music executive, and YouTube personality. He has founded several brands including the No Jumper Podcast, the ONSOMESHIT store, and The Comeup BMX blog.[✔] He is based in Los Angeles, California but is originally from New Hampshire. Adan is currently dating Lena The Plug. In March of 2018, Adam22 faced allegations of rape and physical abuse but no charges were filed.
Adam was born and raised in Nashua, New Hampshire. He has one sister and his mom was a librarian. From a young age, he had shown interest in BMX and by the time he was in high school would go ride in Boston with his friends. When he was in 6th grade, his father went to prison for a White collar crime, causing extreme stress on his family. He was released several years later when Adam was 16. Although he grew up in a chaotic household, Adam loves his parents and they did a great job.
Adam attended Nashua High School South and throughout his time there he was straight edge. He was influenced by the culture of BMX at the time and the hardcore music scene around him. After graduating from high school, Adam attended community college in Massachusetts for a year and then transferred to UMass Lowell. Adam said that he went from having straights A's in community college to straights D's and maybe a B. He then dropped out and moved to New York to the dismay of his mother.
Adam learned the ins and outs of executing Credit card fraud while still in college. When he moved to New York City, Adam and his friends would commit fraud throughout the Tri-State area. A few years into it, Adam said his illegal venture would make him stressed and anxious, and after a few of his boys got arrested, he retired from his illicit career path. He then turned to poker and was playing 12 hours a day with an average of 1,000 hands an hour. With both professions, he was making six figures.
BMX Scene and The Comeup/On Some Shit
Since his days in New York, Adam was always a chill BMX rider who would always be down to ride downtown and draw graffiti. He started his BMX blog The Comeup in 2006 in the midst of his poker career. Adam always had a passion for writing and first forays into blogging were writing video games reviews when he was nine. He was inspired by combining his favorite hip hop blog at the time, Nah Right, with the BMX forums he followed. He eventually started making a profit off advertisements and stopped playing poker to run the website full-time. Adam later founded ONSOMESHIT and started selling merch off the that website as well. Today he has both websites running and ran a ONSOMESHIT BMX store near Skid row before moving it to Melrose ave.
Adam22 started the No Jumper podcast in 2015 and named it after a Gucci Mane lyric. His first interview was Xavier Wulf which led to interviews with Pouya, Fat Nick, and more. The podcasts take place in the back of his BMX store. He conducts interviews with a wide variety of people including, Xxxtentacion, $uicideboy$, 6IX9INE (Teka$hi69), Lil Yachty, Getter (DJ), Matt Ox, and more. Many people who are interviewed on his podcast go on to grow immensely popular afterward.
Adam resides in Los Angeles, California. At one point was addicted to video games and says his favorites were Mortal Combat, Final Fantasy, and Tetris. Adam met Lena when she DM'd him for her job at the time, and then he asked if she wanted to buy him drinks. Their first date was Adam getting interviewed on a podcast by Gangsta Boo and Jackie Chain. When he and Lena The Plug (Lena Nersesian) both hit 1 million subscribers, they promised to make a sex tape together, which did not end up happening. Yet, they already filmed a threesome with Taylor White. He has a cat named Tony (Cat).
Sexual Assault Allegations
In March 2018 a number of rape and physical abuse allegations came against Adam originating from Conor Tripler's Twitter account. In a Twitter thread, Tripler shared multiple screenshots of messages he had with Adam's accusers as well as screenshots and archived links to old blog posts. An anonymous woman claimed that Adam is a “serial rapist who is notorious for doxing women who speak up against him for raping them.”
In response, Adam said “Anyone who ever called me a rapist is straight up 100% lying and I’ll defend that forever.” Commenting about his blog posts at the time, he stated that his writing style was trying to emulate Tucker Max which he would later regret. Atlantic Records did a subsequent investigation into the accusations and hired a private investigator to do so.
Accounts of "Jane" and "D"
An article in Pitchfork came out that documented sexual assault allegations of two women against Adam. The first who went under the pseudonym “Jane” due to fear of retaliation. They met on the same message board in 2005 and made plans to meet up in Manhattan. They went back to his apartment in Queens where he made unwanted advances. Recounting the story, Jane said:
“I told him I wasn’t into it, but he didn’t stop and became pretty angry. Meanwhile, I’m not a big girl, I’m 5'4" and Adam is well over 6'0" and a pretty big guy. I was terrified and froze while he had sex with my basically lifeless body. I was too afraid to fight back in fear that he would hurt me, so I just laid there in terror. I just remember staring out the window and praying it would be over soon...Eventually, he stopped. I changed and immediately left. I remember waiting in the subway, sobbing. Thinking I should have fought back, I should’ve gotten out of there. I felt guilty, violated, and scared.”
Several years later in December 2009, Adam authored a blog post titled “The Time a Girl Accused Me of Rape” which included photos of Jane as well as her first name. In the post he wrote:
“She was letting me touch her all over and was making out with me the whole time, but she didn’t seem like she was really enjoying it all that much... How much a woman enjoys sexual activity is usually not highly correlated to how much fun I’m having though, so I didn’t give it much thought.”
A second woman who went by the name "D" met on the same message board in 2006 when she was 16. They both said nothing physical happened at the time nor did they meet in person, and they stopped talking soon afterward. They reconnected in 2009 and he went to visit her in her hometown of Vancouver. When he landed, they had dinner and went back to her mother's house where she lived and watched The Office. Adam went on to make advances and she said:
“I was like, ‘No, just stop... I was pushing him off me and my hands were pushing him, really just, barricading my vagina with my hands. Like, ‘No, don’t go there, don’t put your fingers in there, don’t go anywhere there, I don’t want that.’ And then he’s 6'4" and I’m like 5'3". I was like 120 pounds if that. He easily had 100 pounds on me. When someone is that big and they have the ability to grab both your wrists with their one hand and pull your arms over your head, you can’t do anything,” D said. “And if you try, it’ll just get worse and more painful. What are you supposed to do?”
After the encounter, D expressed that she was upset and that he wanted to wait. After Adam asked her to keep what happened a secret because he was getting lots of heat over Jane at the time.
In August 2009, D flew to visit Adam in New York and said “You have to understand that every single one of these decisions was made based off of fear” and by the fall the relationship ended. Starting in January 2010, Adam would write several blog posts totaling almost 9,000 words detailing his encounters with D. Along with revealing her full-name, Adam would post several semi-nude pictures of D, one when she was 14 and two when she was 17.
