PropertyGuru is Singapore’s property and home site, founded in 2007. The site provides access to property and home-related products, services, news, advice, guides, tools and online property database in Singapore.

The founders are Steve Melhuish​ and Jani Rautainen.

History

Singapore’s leading online property portal, PropertyGuru, was founded in May 2007 with its site officially launched in the following December.

Operations

PropertyGuru makes money in three ways:[3]

- Agents fee: It charges agents a fee to use its platform.

- Advertising: It sells ad spots on its online property and printed newsletter.

- Property developers: It supports the entire campaign for property developers from advertising to sales.

Funding

In June 2012, the site raised S$60 million (US$49.1 million) from European property portal group, ImmobilienScout24.[4][5]

In June 2015, PropertyGuru got a S$175 million (US$129.3 million) investment boost from several investors that include US private equity giant TPG, Indonesian media company Emtek Group and Asia Pacific-based tech venture capital firm Square Peg Capital.[6][7] And Scout24 – previously a minority shareholder exited the business to focus on their core wholly owned property and car online classified businesses in Europe.[8][9]

Acquisitions

In December 2010, it acquired North Malaysia’s leading property portal Fullhouse.[10]

In 2011, it acquired the top property website, Rumah.com, in Indonesia[11] and DDProperty.com in Thailand.[12]

In Jan 2016, PropertyGuru acquired “Asia Property Awards” And “Property Report”.[13]
